Princeton took a strong group of
athletes to a quad meet at Penn Saturday afternoon, winning seven
events overall and performing extremely well in both the sprint events

The 400 meters was the highlight for Princeton
on the track as the Tigers had the top four finishers in the individual
400 and also won the 4X400 relay later in the meet. Rich Stewart's time
of 48.24 seconds led the top four in the individual event, with Shafiq
Kashmiri and Matt Brock right behind in 48.71 and 48.97 respectively. Princeton's
"A" mile relay group finished in 3:15.81 to edge Rutgers in that race.
Villanova and Penn also competed in Saturday's quad meet. The
Tigers also had the top two finishers in both the hammer throw and shot
put. Alex Pessala's throw of 181 feet easily won the hammer, while Matt
McNamara's toss of 171 feet, seven inches was second. In the shot, Tim
Lanni's mark of 52 feet, 5 1/4 inches was the winner, with teammate
Eric Plummer finishing just behind with a toss of 49 feet, 10 inches. Justin
Frick cleared 2.10 meters (6-10 3/4) in the high jump, good for
qualification to the NCAA regionals. Scott Henkleman's mark of 23 feet,
